The purpose of this project is to collect the necessary data for creating the nutrient balances on 12 swine operations in Nebraska, Iowa, and Indiana. The project will evaluate the producer’s ability to assemble the required information and the ability of these measures to enhance our understanding of the environmental performance of commercial swine farms. During year 1, participating producers will be identified and data collected to create a WFNB for 2006. In year 2, both WFNB and FHNB will be measured for participating farms and educational resources based upon this experience will be developed for the swine industry.
